A former general deputy assistant secretary for housing at the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, he also served as deputy commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration and deputy general counsel for housing and development at HUD. During his tenure with the department he developed an Internet-based asset management system for FHA's 30,000 multifamily properties.He also served as a real estate attorney with Cravath, Swain & Moore, as associate general counsel for the New York State Urban Development Corp. and as assistant to former New York Governor Mario Cuomo.
