Caremark RX Inc. says the operation will complement its existing customer service center in the city. The new building at Parkway Plaza will deliver in November.

Lucent Technologies will be developing a new telecommunications platform for the operation. Caremark's Rich Scardina, senior vice president of operations, says the new facility is needed to keep pace with the company's growing base in the region.

Caremark is a leading prescription benefit manager that provides services to more than 1,200 health plan sponsor and 20 million US enrollees. Caremark's clients include managed care organizations, insurance companies, corporate health plans, unions, government agencies and other funded benefit plans. The company operates a national retail pharmacy network with 50,000+ participating pharmacies, three mail service pharmacies, the industry's only FDA-regulated repackaging plant, and 17 therapeutic pharmacies that deliver advanced medications to patients with chronic or genetic diseases and disorders.
