The commission is expected to give a thumbs-up to the 20,000-employee, 688-acre campus for the city's largest employer. Opponents say the campus will negatively affect traffic, housing affordability and air quality in the area. Cisco claims its campus will be environmentally sensitive and provides a reverse commute for its workers.
Cisco could be setting a trend. City planners say the high-tech firm Xilinx Inc. is also considering development of a 700,000-sf office building in the region.
