The 74,697-sf Wayne and Lynn Hamersly Library on Monmouth Avenue will hold 400,000 books and seat more than 600, or twice as many books and seats as its existing 28,000-sf library. Other features include 60 computer workstations with dataports for laptop access, two classrooms and 21 other rooms for group study.

The three-story brick and glass structure is 63 feet high at the peak of its west portico, and incorporates features of its historic campus buildings. The architect was Portland-based WE Group PC/Architects & Planners. The contractor was Kirby Nagelhout Construction Co., Bend, OR.

Wayne and Lynn Hamersly, who graduated from the school in 1962 and 1964, respectively, donated $1.5 million toward the library's construction. Private sources raised another $2 million for the project, including a $1.5 million endowment for new books. State funding and bonds are paying for the rest.
