University Sees First New Building Since Late 1960s

MONMOUTH, OR-Western Oregon University's new $14.7-million library building is open after two years of construction. The three-story, 74,697-sf brick and glass building on Monmouth Avenue replaces a 28,000-sf facility.

MONMOUTH, OR-Western Oregon University has opened its new $14.7million library building, the first new structure on its campus since the late 1960s.

The 74,697-sf Wayne and Lynn Hamersly Library on Monmouth Avenue will hold 400,000 books and seat more than 600, or twice as many books and seats as its existing 28,000-sf library. Other features include 60 computer workstations with dataports for laptop access, two classrooms and 21 other rooms for group study.
