The new facility, being built by Wachovia Capital Investments and managed by Binswanger Corp., is part of a five-year, $135-million expansion program announced last year.

CommScope will lease the building and its 12-acre site for an estimated 10 years from Wachovia, with an option to buy. CommScope has added 1,000 employees in the past year and expanded manufacturing and distribution space by more than one million sf.

Most of the company's 3,800 employees work at four plants in Catawaba and Iredell counties. CommScope expects to occupy the new building by the end of 2001.
