The new corporate site, to be constructed on Costco-owned property located immediately north of Interstate 90, would look similar to the company's existing buildings, with three stories of office space and one level of underground parking. It would increase Costco's office space by about 57%.

The proposed expansion received unanimous approval by Issaquah's development commission at a meeting Sept. 20. Barring any public objections that must be voiced by Oct. 9, Costco will be granted a permit to begin construction. Costco officials say they expect to begin work on the building within the next few weeks and anticipate that construction will take 12 to 15 months to complete. In the interim, Costco will look at leasing space to facilitate its exploding growth.
