KCPT TV in $5-Mil Building Expansion

KANSAS CITY, MO-Demolition has begun on the buildings neighboring KCPT as the television

KANSAS CITY, MO-A $5-million expansion and renovation at broadcaster KCPT TV will see the demoliton of a couple of blighted buildings next to the publictelevision station and bring it into the digital age.

The expansion will take the offices from 35,000 sf to nearly50,000 sf. It will be done in three phases, with theadministration and production phases to be completed by November of nextyear. The third and final phase, a parking lot, will be completed inspring of 2002.

The renovation and expansion is part of a capital campaign drive,according to Bonnie Rabicoff, director. “We are able to convert, expandand renovate with this capital campaign drive. And we areable to create an endowment for the production of local programming.”
