Skycross designs and manufactures advanced antennas for wireless communications. The technology was originally developed for the military by Lockheed Sanders, a Lockheed Martin subsidiary in Nashua, N.H.
Skycross expects to get its product to market by first quarter 2001. The company anticipates doubling its work force over the next year.
The company's targeted customers are makers of wireless handsets, makers of base stations, and the emerging palm personal computer industry. The overall market Skycross seeks to enter is estimated by industry sources at $4.5 billion in revenue currently and $8.3 billion by 2004.
Milcom Technologies Inc., a business incubator and consulting firm in Maitland, FL, an Orlando suburb, engineered the venture-capital deal for SkyCross. Milcom garnered $30 million last month for another affiliate, TeraNex Corp. Milcom has raised $330 million for its affiliates since 1997.
