City Narrowly Approves Additional $11 Mil for Nicollet Target Store

MINNEAPOLIS-The city's subsidy for the project has skyrocketed to $66 million from an originally projected $35 million.

MINNEAPOLIS-An additional $11 million for the Target store project on Nicollet Mall in Downtown Minneapolis has been passed by a narrow vote in the Minneapolis City Council.

The city’s cost for the project, once projected at $35 million, is now at $66 million. City officials view the Target store as essential to providing mid-priced retail in Downtown Minneapolis, but opponents think the subsidy is too much, especially for one of Minnesota’s largest corporations.
