Compass has acquired a 49 percent ownership interest in Chicago-based Levy. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Compass North American headquarters is in Charlotte, NC. Canteen Corp., a vending machine and cafetaria firm, is one of Compass' major U.S. holdings.
In Orlando, Levy Restaurants owns the Fulton's Crab House and the Portobello Yacht Club restaurants at Walt Disney World. The company is servicing several area clients including the 1.2 million sf Orange County Convention Center, TD Waterhouse Centre, Florida Citrus Bowl and Bob Carr Performing Arts Center.
Levy employs 1,000 persons at its Central Florida locations and 6,500 nationwide. The company's annual sales are about $220 million. Compass' North American operations generate annual revenue of $2.9 billion. The company's work force totals 63,000.
