Flex buildings have become increasingly popular in Loudoun County as homes to data centers, which are computer nerve centers for communications and Internet businesses.
More than 287,000 sf of new flex space was built in northern Virginia in the first half of 2000--more than twice as much as the 128,000 sf built in the same place in all of 1999, according to research firm Delta Associates.
