SAN JOSE, CA-With a vote on Cisco’s proposed 688-acre campus drawing nigh, it really only matters what the current city council here thinks. Nonetheless, former mayor Janet Gray Hayes, ex-council members Walt Hays and Trixie Johnson and former planning commission chairman Brian Grayson are speaking out against the project.

The group contends the new campus would negatively impact the surrounding community in myriad ways, including traffic congestion. The current decision makers, including current mayor Ron Gonzales and the planning commission, say the campus would do no such thing. Indeed, the commission is expected to recommend approval this week and send it on for a final decision by the city council.
