Formerly located in Redwood City, Calif., the nonprofit organization is moving to new offices in San Mateo - at an old motorcycle dealership. The Society has signed a 16-year lease on the E. Fifth Avenue location.
The region's super-tight and expensive rental market pushed the group to buy the former Kawasaki dealership this spring, paying $800,000 for the space and an additional $300,000 in renovations. The group put in losing bids on 20 other properties before landing the new space.
