SAN CARLOS, CA-Sun Microsystems has secured a 10-year lease for 39,500 sf in Spieker Properties' new Skyway Landing development here. The computer networking solutions provider will occupy the space this December.

Skyway Landing consists of two, 3-story, 240,000 square foot office buildings in a campus-style setting. The space Sun Microsystems is taking is in the recently completed second building. It had been preleased by InsWeb, according to the company.

Spieker Properties' Craig Vought could not immediately be reached for more details on the switch, the aggregate value of the deal and remaining availabilities in the development. According to the company's Web site, just under half the space is still available.

“These are good times for the Peninsula market,” Frank Alexander, president of Spieker's Peninsula region, stated in a press release. “(It) continues to enjoy some of the strongest real estate and highest market rents — from $70 per square foot to $90 per square foot — in the country.”
