Guadalupe Center in Big Expansion

KANSAS CITY, MO- New cultural arts center and other projects will quadruple the size of the West Side facility.

KANSAS CITY, MO-A $5.1 million renovation and expansion at the Guadalupe Center on thecity’s West Side will mean expanded services for the area’spredominantly Latino population and add another rehabbed property to thegrowing list of renovations just west of downtown.

Architectural design, done by Kansas City-based Rafael Architects, is100 percent completed and 75 percent of the construction documentation,completed by contractor J.E. Dunn Construction, is finished. Ground isscheduled to be broken late this year and take about 16 months tocomplete.

The 24,000 square foot addition will quadruple the size of the existingcenter. Currently, center staff members work from seven differentbuildings in the West Side neighborhood. They will continue to work fromthe various locations, but operate certain programs from the newGuadalupe Center.
