McCullough notes that the developments include a $100-million retail and entertainment complex by Palladium Co., a division of the Related Retail Corp. of New York, J.M. Olson Co.'s $8-million, three-story office/retail building, a $20-million, six-story mixed-use building by John Development Corp., The Willits, a $70-million condominium/retail project that will be completed in 2002 by Robertson Bros. and Co. of Bloomfield Hills and a five-story condominium/retail project by Tri-Mount Estate Homes Inc.

Developable space in the city's posh Downtown is as valuable as gold to most developers. About 10 smaller condominium/retail projects are included in the $200 million figure."We wanted to provide a larger residential presence Downtown to expand existing services and businesses there," McCullough says. "We're just starting to realize the goals we put in place four years ago."
