Lefkovits had been working with the Technology Forum analyzing technological products and services. Over the years he has researched and assessed broadband, e-procurement, e-payment and online listing services. Back in 1988, he had worked as a photojournalist working to innovate beta testing of high-speed data transmission, digital imaging and transmission technology for Kodak, Fuji and Sony.

On the finance side, he earned a master's degree in public administration from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public International Affairs. Then he obtained a bachelor's degree in economics from Yale University. At the NMHC for the last three years, he has overseen educational programs, issues management and multifamily housing policy.

Lefkovits will be focusing on next-generation Web-based applications for property owners, new technology resources and e-commerce from move-in through move-out. "Steve is the creator of NMHC's Technology Forum, which assists the council's members in shaping technology strategies," writes Frank C. McDowell, BRE's president and CEO, in a written statement. "Few people in any industry have Steve's thorough knowledge of the application of technology to the management and marketing of multifamily real estate."
