Progress on that score was held up as the firm's corporate parent, Britain's Diageo, fought Burger King franchisees over plans for spinning off 20% of the company to the public now, and perhaps the balance by 2003.
The present marketing move could determine the value of the property at 17777 Old Cutler Rd. The 80-acre complex consists of three connected buildings totaling 275,000 sf, plus outdoor recreation areas and 400 covered parking spaces.
The Kendall location is on Biscayne Bay adjacent to Biscayne National Park. Burger King plans to remain in the facility until September 2002.
