Greyhound Station to be Converted into Parking Lot

TACOMA, WA-The Central Terminal, constructed in 1929, will close its doors today and eventually be torn down to make way for a parking lot that will support a nearby office building development. Greyhound Lines will move its operations to a bus hub in the new Tacoma Dome Plaza.

TACOMA, WA-After 81 years in operation, the Central Terminal, which currently serves as the Greyhound Lines depot, is closing its doors today and will be torn down to make way for a parking lot.

The terminal, located at South 14th Street and Pacific Avenue, will soon be the site of 95 to 98 parking spaces, according to Mike Hickey, a real estate broker with Neil Walter Co., which is managing the project. The property is owned by Haub Brothers Enterprises Trust, which also owns the Columbia Bank Center, an 186,000 sf, 9-story class “A” office building currently under construction a block away. Hickey says the parking spaces, which are in high demand in Tacoma, will first be offered to tenants at the Columbia Bank Center.
