New Operator for Shuttered UA Pavilion Theater

SAN JOSE, CA-Camera Cinemas, which shows mostly independent films, is closing two of its three downtown theaters here in order to remodel the a downtown movie complex vacated by United Artists in January.

SAN JOSE, CA-Camera Cinemas, the operator of three downtown San Jose, Calif., theaters, will redevelop a downtown movie complex deserted by United Artists in January.

The locally-owned company says it will close two of its three theaters in order to offer 10 screens at the former UA property. To that end, Camera is asking the city for a $1.25 million loan to assist in a $1.75 million remodel of the facility. The plan is to open the theater within the next year and a half, and show mostly independent films.
