The Arapahoe County Planning Commission recently has agreed to amend its comprehensive plan to include the development. In August, the commission had rejected the amendment for WorldPark after listening to the pros and cons from more than 300 people.
Local developer Chris Fellows' plans call for a Bandimere drag strip and possibly a large speedway. The park also would include a Burt Automotive Network Auto Plaza, golf course, offices, retail stores and an American Indian arts and cultural center.
Fellows' next step is to get Aurora to annex the property. In order to accomplish that, Aurora voters must rescind a law passed last year that bars building a racetrack within city limits. The balloting is set for the Nov. 7 election.
