The store is being constructed at 7541 E. Parkway Drive in Lone Tree near Park Meadows regional mall. It's the first of eight shops that Glazed Investments - one of five franchise groups licensed to open Krispy Kreme's across the country - plans to open in Colorado. Glazed also is the franchiser for Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Krispy Kreme, founded in 1937 in Winston-Salem, NC, operates more than 155 stores that make 3.5 million doughnuts daily in 27 states. Sixty percent of the company's sales come from the Original Hot Glazed, a doughnut has caused grand opening traffic jams as customer wait hours in long lines that oftentimes practically circle the free-standing shops.
LaMar's Donuts of Lincoln, NE, also plans to build a doughnut shop near Park Meadows. Its plans for the metro area call for opening 30 to 35 locations over the course of four to six years.
