The US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has cited the city entity for its aid to 35 Hispanic-owned companies, which had received nearly $33 million in construction contracts for the new Broncos Stadium. In eight of the past 10 years, the Denver Hispanic Chamber has been honored regionally for its leadership.

"It's quite an honor to win the award," says Salvador Gomez, the chamber's chairman-elect. The Denver chamber had been competing for the national title against San Diego, Milwaukee, Dallas and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Denver chamber has more than 1,300 members. "We've gotten our members involved in a lot of capital improvement projects in the city," says Gomez. "They're able to bid on a lot of projects in the area because they belong to the chamber.
