LOWELL, MA-Despite reports that retail is the trailing sector of the Boston commercial real estate marketplace, there has been some activity. AJ Wright, the discount retail branch of the TJX Cos., has signed for 25,000 sf at the Shop N’ Save Plaza here. The 223,000-sf plaza is a supermarket-anchored center with tenants that include Stop N’ Save, CVS, BankBoston and Bally Fitness.

AJ Wright has been on an apparent growth track since its first store opened in the third quarter of 1998. Some 15 stores were in the portfolio within a year, say company executives, who project that another 10 will be opened by the end of the year.
