Oracle Corporation is negotiating a deal for 12 acres of land situated in Dublin along interstate 580 near the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, the East bay Business Times reported earlier this week. The news comes on the heels of several other firms making recent moves into the Tri-Valley area, prompting Mayor Guy Houston to dub his city "Digital Dublin."
Currently, the city has a population of 32,500, but that number is expected to grow to 60,000 as more and more companies move from the Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Near the Oracle site, three other parcels are still available, and names being whispered about often include other Silicon Valley tech firms.
In addition to the availability, and affordability, of space, employee demand seems to be fueling the East Bay's fire. Says Oracle VP Randall Smith: "The proposed East Bay campus would help us provide an attractive commuting alternative for employees and prospective employees who reside in the East Bay."
