Much of the construction activity has been focused in Northwest Houston, which has traditionally been the home to much of Houston's distribution space. The Southwestern corridor of Houston's metropolitan area also has attracted a number of new industrial projects this year. The citywide industrial vacancy rate is approximately 6% as of the end of the third quarter. Demand also is strong for manufacturing buildings with heavy cranes and rail service.
