Microsoft has been leasing 19,500 sf on the 18th floor of the building for the past 10 years for its regional headquarters. The new lease, for an additional five years, will expand the floor space utilized by Microsoft to 22,757 sf, which means the company will occupy the entire floor of the building.
"This property provides us with exactly what we need, namely accessibility and ease of expansion," said Stephanie McCarron, office manager for Microsoft. "The building is not only beautiful, but it is also conveniently located near many businesses and services utilized by Microsoft's employees."
The added floor space will be used to expand the company's customer space facilities, which will include an executive briefing center, technical briefing room and multi-purpose room. The 3,000-sf expansion is scheduled to be completed in May 2001.
"We are seeing office tenants, especially high-tech companies like Microsoft, locating and staying in suburban areas like Irvine where their employees can live and work within close proximity to one another," said Bill Halford, president of The Irvine Office Company, a division of The Irvine Company.
