Since the new casino isn't slated to begin going up before Jan. 3, park residents believed that they could stay until the end of the year. But the tribe responded that a month is required to prepare the site for construction.
The Seminoles already have an ambitious 24/7 gaming facility in operation on the Hollywood reservation. In the past year, they also opened a smaller satellite casino at Coconut Creek in northern Broward County. Another Indian tribe in Miami operates a third South Florida casino.
