New Report Reveals Downside of Proposed Indian Casino & Resort Projects

SAN DIEGO--Indian casinos and resorts would boost the economy, but a new report details the heavy price taxpayers will pay for the dozen or so proposed projects.

SAN DIEGO–County officials are worried that the explosion in Indian resort and casino projects could overtax the areas’s streets and water systems and harm environmentally sensitive habitats.

A report by staff, scheduled for consideration next week by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, warns that the county might have to fork over up to $470 million for new roadways to accommodate the crush of tourists and gamblers.
