This development, situated 20 miles west of the Beaver Ski resort, will mark Village Homes' first venture in the mountains and one of the first production housing developments there.

Village Homes plans to build up to 384 homes in the 1,600-acre Eagle Ranch. The homes most likely will be priced from about $300,000 to $500,000, far more than a similar house built by Village Homes would cost in the Denver area, but far less expensive than a typical home in the mountains. The completed value of the Village Homes' development is estimated at $155 million at today's market rate.

Houston-based developer Gerald Hines, on a much smaller scale, has used some production homebuilders in his River Run project in Carbondale, CO on the outskirts of Aspen.
