Across the street, DST Systems is overseeing the Cathedral Squareproject which will include two office buildings. One will house theKansas City Southern Industries Inc. heaquarters and the other is beingbuilt on a speculative basis.
The golden dome of the Cathedral was regilded last week as part of an$8.5 million renovation project. The 19th century church was lastrenovated in 1955. Work on the exterior has been ongoing for the pastseveral years and is expected to be finished by the holidays. Interiorwork will begin this spring and take about a year to complete.
To be included in the renovation is the replacement of the heating andcooling systems, as well as the electrical systems. Restoration willalso be done to stained glass windows that date back to the early1900's.Shaughnessy Fickel & Scott Architects Inc. are designing the interiorspace.
