FORT LAUDERDALE, FL-The Federal Aviation Administration is reviewing plans for two Downtown apartment towers. The city had already forced developer Charles Palmer of Sea Ranch Properties to cut back his proposal for twin 42-story buildings to 38 and 32 stories respectively.

Awaiting approvals is yet another nearby high-rise apartment development. Based on preliminary plans, Omni Equities’ River House would have three towers of 42 stories each.

The FAA is talking about a possible 17-story height limit. It fears that anything taller would compromise the ability of radar at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to keep track of the bulk of incoming air traffic.
