Developers to Turn Former Motel Into Office Building

SPOKANE, WA-Local developers Wells & Co. and Avista Development Inc. are teaming up to transform a former Rodeway Inn into office space. The Courtyard Office Suites, slated for completion next fall, will be targeted to Internet companies and other small start-ups.

SPOKANE, WA-Local developers Avista Development Inc. and Wells & Co. are spending $4.6 million to turn the former Rodeway Inn City Center into high-tech office suites. The three-story facility, to be called Courtyard Office Suites at Steam Plant Square, was purchased by Avista Development several years ago as part of a clean-up effort for the adjoining Steam Plant Square redevelopment project that Avista Development recently completed.

Kim Pearman-Gillman, senior vice president for Avista Development, says that like Steam Plant Square, Courtyard Office Suites will feature small, flexible office space that will be targeted to start-up dot.com companies, as well as graphic artists, attorneys and anyone else looking for a small, affordable office space that features the latest in high-tech wiring.
