Dave Kindell, vice president of real estate for Grocery Outlet Inc., says the Kent store is the first of two or three that the chain plans to open in King County. Though Kindell wouldn't comment on the locations for those stores, he says that he is looking at potential sites now and plans to open one or two others in the county during the first quarter of 2001.
Grocery Outlet, a privately-held company, currently operates 115 stores in nine western states--including five Washington state stores located in Monroe, Everett, Bremerton, Moses Lake and Spokane. According to Kindell, the 25-year-old company is on track to open five to eight stores a year and is constantly on the lookout for new locations.
