Grocery Outlet Chain Opens First King County Store

KENT, WA-A company official for Berkeley, CA-based Grocery Outlet Inc. says a second and third location may open in the county during first quarter 2001. The first location, a 15,000-sf store in Kent, is slated to open Nov. 18.

KENT, WA-Grocery Outlet Inc., a California-based grocery chain that buys bulk from suppliers and manufacturers and then sells at a discount, is opening its first King County store. The 15,000-sf store, located at 25818 102nd Street Southeast in Kent, is slated to open its doors Nov. 18. Jack Evans, a real estate broker with First Western Properties, worked with Grocery Outlet on the deal.

Dave Kindell, vice president of real estate for Grocery Outlet Inc., says the Kent store is the first of two or three that the chain plans to open in King County. Though Kindell wouldn’t comment on the locations for those stores, he says that he is looking at potential sites now and plans to open one or two others in the county during the first quarter of 2001.
