Raceway Speeding Toward Finish

BONNER SPRINGS, KS- The $250 million Kansas Speedway will open with races next summer and fall. The motor speedway will hold 75,000 race fans for one of nation's fastest growing sport events.

BONNER SPRINGS, KS-Construction crews are cranking out the work at Kansas Speedway inBonner Springs, KS. just west of downtown. The speedway will open withone race next summer followed by another next fall.

Kansas Speedway is a $250 million project located on 1,250 acres at thejunction of Insterstates 70 and 435 in western Wyandotte County. It willinitially seat 75,000 fans, with the design such that the spectator areacould be doubled. The owner of the racetrack is International SpeedwayCorp. of Daytona Beach, Fla.

“We are delivering such a speedway for the 75,000 fans to enjoy thebest attributes from ISC’s other racetracks including the storiedDaytona International Speedway,” said Terry Flanagan, project managerfor planning and design for the speedway and vice president with HNTBCorp. of Kansas City. “These attributes include superior sightlines,convenient ingress and egress and a streamlined flow from parking lotsto the open and air grandstand and its 68 suites.”
