OLYMPIA, WA-Thurston County officials are preparing to take bids on the construction of a 23,000-sf, two-story facility that will be the new home for the Thurston County Health Department.

The new Health Department building, to be located at 412 Lilly Rd., will be constructed on a 2.3-acre site that the county recently purchased from the Garnett J. Davis and Iler Anderson Trusts for $470,000. The county is preparing its request for proposals now and hopes to begin construction on the building early 2001 and complete it in fall 2001. County officials estimate the building will cost between $3.5 million and $5.5 million.
