KC International Airport in $183-Mil Overhaul

KANSAS CITY, MO-Three Kansas City International Airport terminals will undergo a major renovation and expansion next year. More than 35,000-sf will be added at the 27-year-old airport in a three-year project.

KANSAS CITY, MO-Kansas City International Airport will soon be getting a makeover. A$183-million terminal improvement project will take off early next yearand mean extensive renovations to the 27-year-old airport. The projectis expected to take about three years to complete.

The interior of all three terminals at KCIA will be rehabbed. More than35,000 sf will be added and the number of entry doors will beconsolidated. Improvements will also be made to the HVAC and electricsystems and new baggage belts and ticket counters will be added.

“The beauty of the work to be done at KCI is that it will be done insections to minimize the inconvenience to the passengers and airportusers,” says Joe McBride, spokesperson for KCI. “Our airport is veryconvenient in that you can drive to within 75 yards of where you willboard the plane. It is imperative that we communicate with the publicthat this work is going to take place so that they may plan ahead.”
