Fery had directed the group's operations since 1997, overseeing the hotel, restaurant and commercial real estate assets of the Stevenson family of Bingen, Wash. The downtown Heathman Hotel and restaurant was the prize property in that portfolio. It was sold for $25 million in September to Modesto, Calif.-based Rim Corp., which is using it to launch a more upscale division of its hotel empire. Rim has retained the hotel staff, including hotel manager Jeff Jacob.

The Heathman Group, which has reverted back to its original name, North Pacific Management, continues to oversee the family's other holdings, including The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, Wash., The Greenwood Inn in Beaverton and the Clarion Hotel Airport. Other family-owned properties include the downtown Southpark Restaurant, two local fitness clubs and other retail, office and industrial property totaling more than 1 million sf throughout Western Oregon.
