Burbank Mixed-Use Project Seeks Approval

LOS ANGELES-A Santa Monica-based developer is asking Burbank officials to approve a $150-million mixed-use complex in Burbank's Media District.

LOS ANGELES-Platt Cos. submits formal plans for $150-million development in Media District.

If the Burbank City Council approves Platt Cos.’ plans, the complex will be built on a four-acre site at the center of the Media District bounded by Alameda Avenue, California Street, Olive Avenue and the Ventura Freeway. The 565,000-sf project would include an 18-story office building and a six-story office building, as well as an 18-story hotel, a 75,000-sf health club and a childcare facility.

Platt Cos. has spent more than two years planning the project, company president Rich Platt tells GlobeSt.com. The land comprising the current site was acquired from 10 different owners, and a church that’s on the site now will be torn down and rebuilt in another corner of the development.
