Campus May Host Net Switching Center

HAYWARD, CA-The California State University campus here may become home to an Internet switching facility – where computer-network information is electronically exchanged. Connecticut-based Geographic Network Affiliates Inc. this week agreed to lease 400,000 sf of university space for an annual $477,000. As part of the deal, Cal State Hayward will get about 25% of profits from the facility. Those funds will be used for university programs.

Geographic Network Affiliates will begin building the facility early next year on yet-undeveloped land south of Harder Road. The project still must be approved by the California State University’s board of trustees, which is expected next week.
