Gross, an alumnus of the Anderson School, will deliver the keynote speech to 400 business leaders, students and alumni at the awards dinner, will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills at 6 p.m.
Dubbed the "Baron of Bond" by Barron's magazine, Gross is considered to be the best bond fund manager in the country and the most influential authority on the bond market. He manages PIMCO's Total Return Fund, the largest bond fund in the world with more than $35 billion in assets.
One of its 60 mutual funds is PIMCO's Commercial Mortgage Securities Fund, a closed-end mutual fund investing in investment grade commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). The fund's holdings include apartment buildings, healthcare (hospitals and nursing care facilities); hospitality (hotels and motels); and multi-class (a mix of all commercial property types including office buildings and industrial properties). Asset quality is a mixture from AAA to B, with an average quality of BBB.
Gross is author of "Everything You've Heard About Investing is Wrong!," which was published in 1977. He was recently inducted into the Fixed Income Analyst's Society Hall of Fame.
