Edgix to Deliver Geographically Relevant Web Content to IntelliSpace Users

NEW YORK CITY-This network caching service guarantees to offload a minimum of 30% of an ISP's Web traffic or else there is no charge. It is said to increase download speeds by 438% and produce 84% fewer network errors.

NEW YORK CITY-IntelliSpace, a provider of managed optical Ethernet IP networks that has wired more than 100 million sf of commercial real estate, will deploy the edgeMedia service of Edgix, based here, in more than 30 metropolitan points of presence throughout its broadband network in the US and Europe. A network caching service, edgeMedia delivers geographically relevant Web content to the edge nodes of an access provider’s network.

This service guarantees that it will offload a minimum of 30% of an ISP’s Web traffic to the Edgix network, or else the service provider is not charged. According to Edgix, evaluations of edgeMedia have shown that average download speeds were increased by 438% compared to standard Internet performance. It also recorded 84% fewer network errors, virtually eliminating messages such as “page time out” and “gateway time out.”
