The space marks the third location in 16 months to accommodate a rapidly growing legal staff tailored for high-tech companies. The 21-attorney staff presently is housed in more than 10,000 sf at 1600 N. Collins St. in Richardson.
Dallas-based Thompson Realty has broken ground on a 10-acre office development at 1301 E. Lookout Dr., which is expected to deliver in September 2001. Lookout Plaza's phase one is a three-story, 150,000-sf building and phase two, a five-story, 100,000-sf structure.
The Telecom Corridor office will be the firm's third largest workspace in Texas, equaling the size of its Ft. Worth operation at 201 Main St. The law firm also plans to hire 19 more attorneys when the relocation is complete. Three years ago, the firm had decided to relocate the high-tech segment of its business to Richardson so it would be closer to its growing client roster, William L. Boeing, partner-in-charge of the Telecom Corridor office, tells GlobeSt.com.
About 10 of the firm's partners serve on committees of the Telecom Corridor Technology Business Council Trade Association. "Haynes and Boone has played a critical role in the development of the corridor by providing world-class legal support in nurturing technology companies," says Ron Robinson, Telecom Corridor Council president.
Haynes and Boone started its technology practice in the 1980s and expanded its focus in the 1990s, says Boeing. In recent weeks, the firm's Austin CBD office has opened a satellite office along Loop 360 in the state capital's emerging Technology Corridor.
Haynes and Boone LLP provides a full spectrum of legal services to the technology industry, such as intellectual property, technology contracts, finance, acquisitions, employment issues and global expansion. The law firm is a stakeholder and counsel to STARTech, a technology business incubator formed by the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, venture capitalists and IT companies. Currently ranked as the 80th largest law firm in the US by the National Law Journal, Haynes and Boone also has offices in Houston, San Antonio, Washington, DC and Mexico City.
