The event, to be held at Anthony's Pier 9 in New Windsor, will recognize a host of individuals, companies and projects in Orange County. Developers such as Front Street on Hudson and Jos-Cos, as well as city government, have created a home for boutiques, restaurants, a boat tour company and other businesses, according to the Goshen-based organization.
"The rebirth of the waterfront will serve as the magnet needed to draw people to the heart of the city," says Newburgh Mayor Mary Crabb, "not only to enjoy the fine dining and entertainment, but to also visit some of the historic sites which set Newburgh apart."
Other award winners include the Newburgh Auto Auction, which will receive the Partnership's "Land Use" award for the landscaping work performed around its new facility built on Route 17K in the town of Newburgh, nearby Stewart International Airport. Partnership officials note that Newburgh Auto Auction hired VP Landscaping, a local firm, to develop an attractive and inviting entranceway to the new dealer-to-dealer auction house.
Jane Serrano, marketing manager at Newburgh Auto Auction, says, "We wanted to make our facility more inviting and conducive to the area. When people think of an auto auction, they don't usually think of good landscaping. We wanted to change that."
The company's site now includes a landscaped high berm along Route 17K to offset the lanes of cars that are stored on the property. Also scheduled to be honored at the Partnership event include: the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame in Goshen will be presented with the organization's "Conservation" award and Brigadier General Thomas P. MacGuire Jr., Commander of the 105th Airlift Wing, Stewart Air National Guard Base, will be honored as the Partnership's "2000 Corporate Executive/Community Involvement" award winner.
