Minnesota's Metris Expanding Credit Card Operations

ORLANDO-The nation's 11th largest issuer plans to occupy Banco Popular's 5,000-sf offices near International Drive when the bank's lease expires early next year and probably will be searching for additional space to house 200 new hires. Metris is creating a national Hispanic operations center here.

ORLANDO-Metris Co. Inc. of Minnetonka, MN, the country’s 11th largest credit card issuer, is scouting for additional office space to house a projected 200 new hires next year when it sets up a national Hispanic operations center here. The Minnesota company is consolidating call-center operations for several Hispanic-oriented products. Orlando has 300,000 Spanish-speaking individuals.

Metris bought Banco Popular’s Orlando customer service office last summer, planning to service the Puerto Rico-based bank’s credit card portfolio. Metris currently has a staff of 100 at its 5551 Vanguard St. offices near International Drive in the city’s tourist corridor. The bank occupies 5,000 sf at the same address.
