Yamaha's factory in Newnan produces jet skis and all-terrain vehicles and was looking to add golf carts to its production in the Southeast. Coweta County established a new charter technical skills high school to train students for jobs in the area. Local business and industry leaders along with West Central Technical College form partnerships with local industries and set the school curriculum based on the needs of those industries.
The schools produce a ready-made workforce to serve the businesses. And, as the county had hoped, attracts additional business opportunities through expansion or the location of new companies.
