The monies were part of a TIF plan from earlier in the decade that were used to help renovate the Marriott and construct the Muehlebach Tower. To help defray the costs, the city has billed the Convention and Visitors Bureau nearly $400,000. TIF officials say the money was an investment in Downtown and that increased convention business at nearby Bartle Hall was worth the shortcoming. The city manager's office is reviewing the matter.
