EXPO is a branch of home-improvement giant Home Depot. But in contrast to the Home Depot's warehouse-like appearance, EXPO features lush rooms with upscale appointments. Together, the two stores are estimated to add about 175 jobs to the area.
On Friday, outdoor-gear store Recreational Equipment Inc. opens its fifth Bay Area location in Fremont. Borders Books & Music will open its 12th area store--also in Fremont--the following day at Union City's Union Landing shopping center. REI will span 12,000 sf, while Borders has a total of 25,000 sf.
